FSSAI Mandates Immediate Use of Approved FSSAI Manuals for Analysis of Tea, Coffee, Cereals, Fish and dairy products in Laboratories.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has directed laboratories to use FSSAI manuals for analysis of tea, coffee, chicory and fish & fish products, Cereal and Cereal Products, Dairy and Dairy Products. These manual shall be used by the laboratories with immediate effect.

A directive from the FSSAI states, “This action supersedes the testing procedures outlined for fish and fish products in the Manual of Methods of Analysis of Foods-Meat and Meat Products & Fish and Fish Products, as communicated in Office Order No. 1-90/FSSAI/SP (MS&A)/2009 dated 09.01.2017.”

G Kamala Vardhana Rao, the CEO of FSSAI, has emphasized that the manual of analysis methods is an extensive resource that holds immense value for food testing laboratories, researchers, quality control experts, food technologists, and anyone engaged in the evaluation of tea, coffee, chicory, fish, and fish products.

Rao commented, “This meticulously crafted manual offers a comprehensive array of analytical methods specifically tailored for tea, coffee, chicory, and fish & fish products. It encompasses various analysis facets in accordance with FSSR guidelines. Laboratories are exclusively instructed to employ these testing techniques for examining samples under the FSS Act 2006 and its associated regulations.”

The FSSAI anticipates that these manuals will act as catalysts for scientific progress, quality assurance, and the assurance of consumer safety.
