Zomato has taken action against suspicious ‘one-dish’ restaurants listed on its platform. Following social media chaos, the food delivery platform said that it has identified and delisted all potentially fraudulent restaurants.
The company announced that it has enhanced its fraud detection measures to identify these cases and prevent similar incidents in the future.
To address this issue more thoroughly, we have also examined all other restaurants on Zomato that offer a very limited menu and may have included prohibited items or found ways to avoid the listing of such items, the platform stated.
Zomato announced that every restaurant on its platform must possess a Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) license. Additionally, it prohibits the listing of products like alcohol, cigarettes, cigars, and vapes.
The restaurants in question managed to manipulate our evaluations by employing generic food names like “Naughty Strawberry” and “Merry Berry,” it stated.
Last week, social media users in Chandigarh began sharing their experiences with questionable restaurants that offered only a single dish at an exorbitant price. The establishments were serving items such as Naughty Strawberry, Blue Adventure, Kiwi Delight Mojito, and Citrus Punch.
