Vritika Research Internship 2023 is organized by The National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Management, Thanjavur (NIFTEM-T), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India.
They are inviting applications for this four-week training and skill internship program aims to provide hands-on research experience and skill development opportunities to promising postgraduate (PG) and Ph.D. students in the field of food science and technology.

Internship Objectives
- Skill Development: Enhancing the research skills of PG and Ph.D. students from universities, colleges, and institutes through training and practical experience.
- Food Grain Quality Assessment: Introducing participants to various testing methods, including physical, chemical, biological, and molecular techniques, to assess food grain quality.
- Post-Harvest Loss Reduction: Providing knowledge on scientific storage of food grains, integrated pest management during storage, and screening of microbes and detection methods for various stored pests.
- Pesticide Residue and Mycotoxin Contamination: Understanding the techniques to analyze pesticide residues and mycotoxin contamination in food grains.
Eligibility Criteria
- Only students pursuing PG or Ph.D. programs in life sciences, food science, food engineering, food technology, or allied subjects from a recognized University/Institution/College are eligible to apply.
- Applicants should have a good academic record in their respective areas of specialization.
- A Recommendation Letter cum NOC from the Supervisor/Head of the Department/Head of the Institute is mandatory.
- The application form for the internship program, along with the Google form, must be filled.

Selection Process
- There is no registration fee for participation.
- The event is limited to five students, with 3 positions reserved for PG students and 2 positions for Ph.D. students.
- Along with the registration form, applicants must submit the requested details and supporting documents.
- The supporting documents include a Recommendation Letter cum ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) from their Supervisor/Head of the Department/Head of the Institute.
- The NOC should indicate the candidate’s association with the institute for participation in the internship program.
- The deadline for registration and document submission is Monday, 19th June 2023.
- The selection of eligible candidates will be done by the duly constituted Selection Committee of NIFTEM-T.
- Chosen candidates will be informed of their selection via email.
Nature of Support & Terms
- Assigned Tasks: Interns will be assigned tasks and assignments by their supervisors, aligned with the research modules designed for the program.
- Work Report: Interns must complete the assigned work and submit a comprehensive work report upon completion of the internship.
- Certificate: Only interns who successfully complete the assigned work within the specified period will receive a certificate.
- Intellectual Property Rights (IPR): The IPR of the research work will be reserved by the institute, and the intern cannot use it without permission from the concerned authority.
- Accommodation and Travel: Hostel accommodation with catering facilities and train travel may be provided to the selected candidates. Travel expenses to and from the host institute will be reimbursed as per the norms.
- Stipend: No stipend will be provided for the internship.
- Attendance: Selected candidates must attend the program physically, and 100% attendance is mandatory.
- Adherence to Institution’s Rules: Interns are expected to abide by the rules and regulations of the hosting institution.
