Qualification
It is preferable to have a four-year bachelor’s degree in applied sciences (such as fisheries, veterinary, agriculture, or food technology) from a well-known college or university, preferably with a first-class distinction.
While having a post-graduate degree or diploma in a technical field or management is desirable, it is not mandatory.
Experience
- 15+ years’ experience in quality assurance with at least 6 years in a managerial position
- 3–4 years of on-the-ground factory QA experience are a must.
- Minimum 6–8 years of experience in the fish and seafood industry (multi-species, long-tail fish, cephalopods, Vannamei, crab meat)
- Understanding of working with your own as well as third-party processors.
Responsibilities
- Taking full responsibility for quality assurance and ensuring the delivery of safe products to customers.
- Developing and enforcing standards for quality, food safety, and sustainability.
- Setting QA goals and monitoring progress.
- Evaluating vendors, conducting audits, and providing training for QA staff.
- Managing finances, overseeing QA documentation, and conducting internal audits.
- Assisting with HR recruitment and collaborating with external agencies.
- Utilizing technology for QA monitoring and maintaining communication with stakeholders for departmental success.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
Requirements
Skills
Proficient communication in English and other languages, both written and spoken.
Strong focus on detail and root cause analysis.
Skilled in leading QA personnel and fostering positive relationships with others.
Capable of creative and analytical thinking, and making logical judgments.
Technical Skills
Experienced in implementing ISO, HACCP, and Food Safety standards, including GFSI-recognized schemes such as FSSC and BRC.
Familiar with Sustainability standards including Environment, Health and Safety, Responsible sourcing, ASC, MSC COC, and BAP.
Completed external training in Quality, Food Safety, and Sustainability Standards.
Knowledgeable about national and international regulatory requirements.
Skilled in using statistical tools and MS Excel.
