Fake garlic made of cement found in Maharashtra’s Akola, the video went viral.

A video went viral on social media showing fake garlic made up of cement in Maharashtra’s Akola district.

When a person peels a garlic clove in the viral video, they discover that it is made entirely of cement from the inside out.

The fake garlic appears to be tougher and heavier.

The wife of retired police officer Subhash Patil, who lives in Bajoria Nagar, Akola, discovered that she had been fooled by a street vendor selling fake garlic, which led to an expose of the scam.

Patil’s wife had purchased 250 grams of garlic from the vendor.

Upon closer inspection, it was revealed that the garlic was, in fact, made of cement, with a white coating to make it resemble the real cooking ingredient.

The fake garlic weighed around 100 grams.

Amid rising prices of garlic across the country, some vendors have begun to sell fake garlic in vegetable markets.

Because cement garlic is mixed with actual garlic and sold in the district, it is challenging for customers to tell the difference between the two.

This incident has triggered the food fraud and safety concerns.
