Education

First Class Graduate in Chemical Engineering / Oil & Fats Technology / Food Technology / master’s in science from a Premier Institute.

Experience

Above 4 years in Chemical Process / Oils & Fats / Food Industries.

Main Accountabilities

  • Safety in Oils & Fats R&D function
  • Ensure safety and quality of Bunge products and in compliance to all food laws.
  • Develop new products and optimize existing products of Bunge on quality, application, cost and delivery.
  • Plan, conduct and monitor progress of pilot scale trials in line with innovation pipelines.
  • Lead a team of junior management in new product and process developments, renovations, pilot plant & scale up operations and cost reduction exercises etc.
  • Carry out competition benchmarking time to time and come up with continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Liase with Application, Operations etc. on new product development & delivery, cost reduction, scale ups, operations etc.
  • Provide oils & fats support to bakery ingredient portfolio teams.

  • Bunge India Oils & Fats portfolio has been existent in India for over 75 years and has undergone constant innovation & renovation to cope up with the fast changing customer requirements, regulatory changes etc. It is important to continue and step up innovation given the business appetite & fast growing competition both local & multi-national.
  • In order to support this growth from innovation side, this position is essential and would also help build up the succession planning. This position will currently supervise a team of 1 to 2 people.

Knowledge and Technical Competencies

  • Working knowledge of Oils & fats Chemistry, Processing Technology, Formulations, food chemistry etc.
  • Exposure to Oils, Vanaspati, Bakery Shortenings & margarines, specialty oils & fats for various food applications, would be added advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of various macro & micro food ingredients & additives, their role in various food applications, physical and chemical interactions, and their safe dosages.
  • Ability to independently operate pilot plants, analytical testing facilities etc.
  • Carry out product, process, and packaging development with cost optimization by understanding synergies that exist in various food products & industries.
  • Basic knowledge of food applications like frying, culinary, baking etc.
  • Basic knowledge of Indian Food Laws such as FSSAI, FPO etc.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety, microbiology & process control aspects.
  • Basic knowledge on functional and protective packaging.
  • Ability to manage product & process development and identify synergies among various operations & food applications.

Other requirements

  • Good at computers & presentation skills.
  • Travel to factories, markets etc.
