About 80 students were hospitalised after eating biscuits at a Maharashtra school.

About 80 students from a district council school in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, were admitted to the hospital after eating biscuits from a nutritional meal programme.

Around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, at the school in Keket Jalgaon village, the kids started vomiting and feeling sick after eating the biscuits, according to a local official.

The village head and other officials quickly came at the school after learning about this and arranged transportation to a hospital.

Following their consumption of the biscuits, 257 students displayed signs of food illness, according to hospital medical officer Dr. Babasaheb Ghughe.

According to India Today, 153 of them were taken to the hospital, where some had treatment before being released.

He added that seven students were sent to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Civil Hospital for additional care when they started exhibiting severe symptoms.

The school has 296 students and an investigation into the cause of the food poisoning is currently underway.

Shivam Yadav, 15, a Class 8 student, died  earlier on August 8 at the Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College in Uttar Pradesh, where he had been transferred from the Maharishi Devraha Baba Medical College.

These incidents have raised worries about health problems in educational institutions.
