FSSAI released a list of laboratories on 8 March 2024 that are capable of testing micronutrients in Fortified Rice (FR), Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK), and Vitamin-Mineral Premix for Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK). This list was created to verify samples and ensure adherence to quality standards.
As per the notification, laboratories on the approved list must have valid accreditation status to accept samples for testing.
Furthermore, the acknowledgement and rules of the laboratories as mentioned earlier will be subject to the most recent directive issued by FSSAI. It is important to note that the current directive is annual, the previous one is dated November 30, 2023.
As per the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), the accredited laboratories can conduct tests for micronutrients such as iron, Vitamin B12, and Vitamin B9 in Fortified Rice (FR), Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK), and Vitamin-Mineral Premix for Fortified Rice Kernel.
The FSSAI initiative aims to enhance food safety and quality standards in fortified rice products, with a special focus on addressing nutritional deficiencies. Through the establishment of a reliable network of accredited laboratories, FSSAI is dedicated to supporting regulatory supervision and ensuring the health and well-being of consumers.
