Swiggy has extended its 10-minute food delivery service, Bolt, to more than 400 cities throughout India. The company announced on Monday that Bolt was initially launched in October in Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune.
Swiggy’s significant growth in the rapid food delivery sector coincides with a surge of startups entering this market. Just last month, Zepto announced plans to expand its Cafe business, which offers a select range of food items delivered from its quick commerce dark stores.
Swish, a 10-minute food delivery startup based in Bengaluru, has secured $2 million in seed funding from Accel. The company plans to use this investment to enhance its presence in the city and expand into other tier-I locations.
Bolt is now operational not only in emerging hubs like Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Indore, Coimbatore, and Kochi, but also in tier-2 and -3 cities such as Roorkee, Guntur, Warangal, Patna, Jagtial, Solan, Nashik, and Shillong, among others.
According to Swiggy, the highest adoption of Bolt has been seen in cities from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, followed by Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Punjab.
Restaurants like KFC, McDonald’s, Burger King, Baskin Robbins, Starbucks, Chaayos, and Eatfit are now available on Bolt.
When it launched earlier this year, Rohit Kapoor, Swiggy’s head of food delivery, remarked, A decade ago, Swiggy transformed food delivery by reducing average wait times to 30 minutes. Now, we’re taking it a step further for items that are frequently ordered.
Swiggy also highlighted that its delivery partners will not be penalized or rewarded based on the timing of Bolt orders.
