Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Oil Technology, along with a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or Oil & Fat Technology.
- Professional Experience: 5 to 8 years.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the operational performance of the Quality Department during shifts to guarantee the effective implementation of business strategies, Key Performance Indicators, and objectives.
- Ensure comprehensive quality checks of raw materials and finished goods, along with effective food safety management.
- Monitor the quality parameters of crude oil arrivals from the port to the plant and throughout the refining process to finished goods dispatch.
- Verify the integrity of crude tanker seals, oversee sampling procedures upon arrival at the plant, and assess the effectiveness and calibration of the online moisture meter for crude streams.
- Manage and oversee the activities and integrity of external surveyors (FLMS).
- Prepare the lab staff shift schedule, ensuring there are no gaps between shifts.
- Handle the annual maintenance contracts (AMC) for all lab instruments, ensuring servicing and calibration are performed according to the specified frequency.
- Manage the procurement of lab supplies, including chemicals, glassware, and instrument spares, through the SRM portal.
- Oversee the completion of QC and food safety capital expenditure tasks.
- Verify QC logbooks and maintain accurate records.
- Address market and customer complaints for both B2B and B2C, aiming for a minimum 20% reduction compared to the previous year.
- Ensure timely issuance of Certificates of Analysis (COA) to all stakeholders for seamless operations.
- Ensure timely clearance in SAP.
- Guarantee 100% compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Achieve 100% utilization of laboratory instruments.
- Ensure no instrument breakdowns that could impact quality control clearance and troubleshooting.
- Conduct vendor and depot audits.
- Perform market and depot visits.
- Develop effective root cause analyses (RCA) to prevent recurring complaints and issues.
- Prepare and distribute monthly quality reports, including KPI, Quality Index, Balanced Scorecard, and market complaint updates on the MS Teams portal.
- Enter service records in SAP and submit invoices to Finance promptly for all service providers.
- Manage inventory of PCI tools.
- Implement 5S management practices in the lab.
- Organize monthly DSC or CSC meetings and submit minutes of the meeting to the Safety Manager.
- Resolve DSC non-conformities.
- Raise and follow up on QC notifications, manage permits, and ensure safe work completion.
- Conduct training on quality, safety, food safety, and task-specific procedures.
- Report safety and food safety near misses, manage BTO reporting, and oversee PTW and PGI intra-departmental audits.
- Verify product and SKU changeovers.
- Ensure incoming PM quality and FG dispatch comply with BIPL specifications.
- Maintain 100% adherence to food safety protocols.
- Implement measures to reduce transit damage.
- Manage inventory of Absolute Alcohol and coordinate permit issuance with the Prohibition & Excise Inspector.
- Submit monthly records to the Prohibition & Excise department.
- Handle audits and prepare documentation for customer, internal, QFS, external FSSC 22000, Kosher, Halal, and government inspections, as well as FSMS.
- Verify FG audits.
- Manage work permits.
- Implement Kaizen initiatives.
- Verify internal and external calibration of instruments.
- Foster employee development through training.
- Ensure compliance with GLP and GMP guidelines.
- Support the BPS-QFS pillar.
Required Skills
- Proficient in laboratory analysis of various edible oils, including understanding standard requirements and parameters for quality assessment and packaging materials.
- Well-versed in the operation of standard laboratory equipment and apparatus.
- Familiar with statutory compliance related to FSSAI, W&M, and quality systems and procedures.
- Trained as an internal auditor for ISO 22000/FSSC 22000.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Effective communication abilities.
- Collaborative team player.
- Proficient in SAP and MS Office applications.
