Purandar Highlands Farmers Producer Company Ltd has achieved a significant milestone by exporting India’s first GI-tagged fig juice to Poland.
This comes after the first commercial shipment of GI-tagged Purandar figs from India was successfully exported to Hong Kong in February 2023.
This marks the first time Indian fig juice will reach the European market and the first to export commercial quantities of Purandar figs to Hong Kong.
The fig juice that is ready to drink, which has received a provisional patent, is produced by Purandar Highlands and is well-known.
The exported products are made from Purandar figs, renowned for their taste, size, and nutritional value, which have earned a Geographical Indication (GI) tag.
Other products from the Purandar area of Pune district, such as Ratnadeep Guava, Phule Purandar Custard Apples, and Green Peas, are also highly prized by consumers nationwide.
This accomplishment has been made possible by Sharad Pawar and MP Supriya Sule’s unwavering support and direction. According to Purandar Highlands’ chairman and managing director, Rohan Ursal, “this achievement is a significant step forward for the Purandar region, showcasing its potential to make a substantial impact on the global stage.”
The first-ever export of India’s ready-to-drink fig juice to a European nation represents a noteworthy turning point in the work our FPC has done over the past ten years.
Ursal continued, “It is always important for us that our activities will be helping our fig farmers get a prominent recognition and sustainable increase in the value of their produce while making our mark in the domestic and global market.”
The company is leveraging the ‘Visit India 2023’ campaign to promote Indian products on the global stage.
