NIT Rourkela Invites Applications for Junior Research Fellow in Food Process Engineering

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has announced a recruitment notice for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a research project related to Food Process Engineering. The position will be purely temporary and will end with the completion of the project.

Post Details

• Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
• Vacancies: 01
• Fellowship: ₹37,000 per month (as per DST rules)
• Tenure: Initially up to 2 years, extendable based on project needs

Eligibility Criteria

• Qualification: M.Tech in Food Engineering / Post-Harvest Engineering / Food Technology with minimum CGPA of 6.5/10 (or 60% marks)
• Exams: Must have a valid GATE/NET score
• Desirable Skills: Knowledge of IoT and machine learning (not mandatory)

Age Limit

Upper Age Limit: 32 years as on the last date of application (03 October 2025)

Relaxation:

• 5 years for SC/ST/PWD and female applicants
• 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates

Role of the JRF

The selected candidate will:

• Carry out research work in Food Process Engineering
• Be encouraged to register for a Ph.D. at NIT Rourkela based on the project
