McDonald’s is setting up its Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad, to strengthen the city’s status as a centre for global business and innovation. This center will focus on business, technology, analytics, and AI to develop solutions for customers worldwide.
The company has rented two floors, covering 2 lakh square feet, at RMZ Nexity Tower 20. With a rental rate of approximately Rs 90 per square foot, the facility is expected to start operations by mid-2025. This centre will be McDonald’s largest outside the US, accommodating around 2,000 employees.
What Are GCCs?
Global Capacity Centres or GCCs are units set up by multinational companies to leverage talent, technology, and cost advantages. These centres act as extensions of the parent organization, handling key functions. McDonald’s has registered “McDonald’s Capability Centre India Pvt Ltd” with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
The Rising Appeal for Global Businesses
Hyderabad will be a preferred city for the GCC’s for its skilled workforce and infrastructural robustness. It also boasts of the quality office spaces that are available. The city is becoming a common choice for global corporations. In Q2 2024, Hyderabad rented 2 million square feet of office transactions that accounted for 11% of the total 18.5 million square feet transacted across eight major Indian cities. GCCs contributed a lion’s share, leasing more than 50% of office space in Hyderabad.
More and more multinational companies are becoming interested in Hyderabad; hence, it continues to gain popularity as an ideal location for global business operations.
