The famous Karachi Bakery, based in Hyderabad and famous for its biscuits and rusks since 1953, has recently grabbed the attention of the Commissioner of Food Safety for Telangana, among several other food establishments, due to a claim of selling expired products and improper labeling.
The most recent update indicates that officials have conducted a recent visit to the famed bakery and uncovered several violations of FSSAI regulations, such as expired rusks, biscuits, and candy, as well as improper labeling of pastries with use-by dates.
The Commissioner of Food Safety, Telangana, stated in a post on X that the task force had recently conducted inspections at the Moazzam Jahi Market area.
The outlet and manufacturing unit of ‘Bilal Ice Cream’ was discovered to be operating without proper licensing or registration. Additionally, fake brand water bottles were found. A notice has been issued, and appropriate action will be taken.
According to the post, Karachi Bakery was found to be serving expired products such as rusks, biscuits, candy, chocolate cakes, toasts, and buns with a total value of ₹5,200, which were subsequently discarded.
The lack of displayed use by dates on pastries and cakes violated FSSAI regulations. Additionally, the discovery of multiple unlabeled products was found to violate the FSSAI Act.
On May 4th, during a routine inspection by the Food Safety Task Force in the Himayatnagar area, numerous violations were identified at Clove Vegetarian Fine Dine. These violations included expired products such as cheese, syrup, ATC spices, sandwich bread, and brown sugar.
Additionally, live cockroaches were found in the ice cream storage unit, and carrots exhibited signs of fungal infestation. According to the X post, there was improperly stored cooked vegetable biryani in the refrigerator.
