The second edition of the Global Food Regulators Summit 2024 was opened at Bharat Mandapam by Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, in the presence of Union Ministers of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and New and Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi.
Together with the World Food India 2024 event, which is being organized by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
FSSAI is putting on a summit under the direction of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare with the goal of creating a global forum for regulators to share knowledge and ideas about fortifying food safety frameworks and systems across the food value chain.

- The opening session will be graced by the esteemed presence of Honb’le Union Ministers of Health and Family Welfare, Agriculture & Farmer Welfare, Consumers Affairs, Food and Public Distribution & New & Renewable Energy along with Chairperson and Secretary, Codex Alimentarius Commission.
- In addition Director General of ICAR and Secretaries of various departments of Government of India such as Youth Affairs & Sports, Consumers Affairs, Food and Public Distribution etc. will be delivering the keynote address in the technical sessions (EU)
- The valedictory session will be graced by Honb’le Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying,Honb’le Minister of State of Health and Family Welfare along with Secretary, Health & Family Welfare and India’s G20 Sherpa.
- Delegates with more than 50 countries comprising of Food Regulatory Bodies, Risk Assesment Authorities, Research Institutes will be participating in this two day summit. .
- In addition, the event is expected to have physical participation from over 5,000 stakeholders, along with virtual participation from over 1 lakh stakeholders.
Key Highlights
- During the event, FSSAI will launch a new portal dedicated to ‘Food Import Rejection Alert’.
- It will also start a food import clearance system 2.0 aimed at streamlining import procedures and enhancing food safety standards.
- The FSSAI will also introduce the State Food Safety Index 2024, which assesses the food safety performance of States and Union Territories.
- The summit would also highlight India’s commitment to leading global efforts in enhancing food safety standards and ensuring food security.
