When the Hyderabad Excise Department raided the well-known Ariko Cafe Ice Cream Parlour in Jubilee Hills, they found that the shop was selling whiskey-laced ice cream.
According to authorities, the cafe was quietly promoting this unusual dessert, which involved combining regular ice cream with a significant quantity of whiskey and charging a premium for it.
A total of 11.5 kg or 23 units of the illegal ice cream were found by authorities during the operation.
Sharath Chandra Reddy, the owner of the parlour and the alleged mastermind behind this boozy selling strategy, was reportedly caught in the act, mixing 60 ml of whiskey into each kilogram of ice cream.
Dayakar Reddy and Shobhan, the parlor’s workers, were also accused with producing the ice cream laced with whiskey and were involved in the racket.
In addition to providing this dessert exclusively for adults, Reddy and his friends advertised their goods on Facebook in an attempt to draw in clients who were searching for something sinfully sweet.
Leading the raid, Excise Superintendent Pradeep Rao said, “Selling alcohol-based products to children is a serious violation, and we will take strict action.”
Since then, officials have filed a case against the parties concerned, and they are still looking into the matter to make sure that the laws governing the distribution of alcohol are being followed.
