FSSAI has cut the testing fee by 50% for its Pan-India food surveillance program.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has announced a significant reduction in testing fees for its Pan-India surveillance programs.

The purpose of this decision is to improve food product monitoring and identify potential dangers in the organized and unorganized sectors in every district of the 36 States/UTs.

In accordance with the power granted by Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, the Food Authority under FSSAI is authorized to collect, analyze and summarize scientific and technical data on the incidence and presence of biological hazards, food contaminants, residue levels of different contaminants, and emerging risks.

To fulfill this mandate, FSSAI is exclusively conducting PAN India surveillance programs on food products to gather data for food safety monitoring, risk assessment, identifying hotspots of adulteration, and setting standards.

FSSAI has cut the testing fee by fifty percent for its Pan-India food surveillance program.

Testing Fee Reduction

With immediate effect, the FSSAI has now lowered the testing fee for all food categories by 50%.

This reduction is applicable to surveillance programs conducted by FSSAI headquarters.

GST Applicability

GST will be applicable on these reduced rates as per the orders of the Central Government.

With this initiative, FSSAI is showing its continuous commitment to raising food safety standards throughout the nation by lowering costs and increasing accessibility of surveillance programs.

This order is issued on September 11, 2024.
