FSSAI : False labeling will result in license cancellation and legal action

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is taking a strong stance against misleading claims on food supplements and nutraceuticals.

At a recent stakeholder meeting, CEO G Kamala Vardhana Rao speaking at the ‘FBO Food Supplements & Nutraceutical Stakeholder Meeting’ in Hyderabad, which was attended by more than 100 Food Business Operators (FBOs).

He warned manufacturers that false labeling will result in license cancellation and legal action.

Rao emphasized that food supplements must accurately reflect their ingredients and avoid health or therapeutic claims. He urged companies to participate in mandatory third-party audits to combat food fraud and ensure consumer safety.
