Food Analyst Vacancy at the Department of Food Safety, NCT Delhi

Applications are invited for the post of Food Analyst, Group “A,” through a Composite Method (Deputation plus Promotion) in the Department of Food Safety, Government of NCT of Delhi.

Pay Scale: Level 11 of the Pay Matrix of Rs. 67,700-2,08,700/-, under the 7th CPC, PB-3, (Rs. 15600-39100/-) with a grade pay of Rs. 6600/- (pre-revised)

Age Limit:

  • No age bar for candidates appointed by Promotion (Departmental Candidate).
  • Not exceeding 56 years for appointment by Deputation.

Educational Qualification

Holding the required educational and other qualifications specified for direct recruits

Possesses a Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Dairy Chemistry, Food Technology, Food and Nutrition, or a Bachelor of Technology in Dairy or Oil. Alternatively, holds a degree in Veterinary Sciences from a university established by law in India, or is an associate of the Institution of Chemists (India) through examination in the Food Analysis section conducted by the Institution of Chemists (India).

Additionally, has a minimum of five years of experience in food analysis and has been officially recognized as qualified for appointment as a Food Analyst by a board appointed and notified by the Authority.

Departmental candidate

The Departmental Deputy Food Analyst, who has served for 7 years in PB-2 with a salary range of Rs. 9300-34800 (pre-revised) plus a Grade Pay of Rs. 4600/-, will be considered alongside external candidates. If selected for the position, this appointment will be regarded as a promotion.

Please note: Departmental officers in the feeder category who are in the direct line for promotion are not eligible for consideration for appointment on deputation. Likewise, those on deputation will not be eligible for promotion.

Nature of Duties

  1. The Food Analyst is responsible for analyzing the food items submitted for examination. In conducting the analysis, the Food Analyst must adhere to the guidelines and procedures established by the Food Authority, which may be updated periodically. The analysis report must be signed by the Food Analyst.
  2. Upon completing the analysis of the food item, the Food Analyst will submit the report to the Designated Officer or the purchaser of the food item, as applicable, using Form-VIIA.
