The Coca-Cola Company and Bacardi Limited announced on Tuesday that they will be launching a ready-to-drink (RTD) pre-mixed cocktail featuring BACARDÍ rum and Coca-Cola.
A number of worldwide markets will carry BACARDÍ Mixed with Coca-Cola RTD, with a scheduled launch in select European regions and Mexico in 2025.
The Coca-Cola Company’s most recent action is reflective of the market for canned cocktails’ ongoing significant rise.
According to the annual economic report from the Distilled Spirits Council of the U.S., premixed cocktails grew 26.7% to $2.8 billion in revenue in 2023, making them the fastest-growing spirit category in the country.
The new drink is not Coke’s first entry into the premixed cocktail market.
“We are continuing to develop our portfolio as a total beverage company, including in the growing alcohol ready-to-drink market,” said James Quincey, CEO of Coca-Cola, in a press release.
The company partnered with the world’s largest beer manufacturer, Molson Coors, to launch Topo Chico Hard Seltzer in 2021.
Additionally, the company partnered with Brown-Forman’s Jack Daniels whiskey to can Jack and Coke, a well-liked bar drink.
Two of the most known global brand in the world will be featured on the packaging of BACARDÍ Mixed with Coca-Cola RTD.
While Coca-Cola had its debut in Atlanta in 1886, family-owned Bacardi was first founded in Cuba in 1862 and then relocated to Bermuda.
Clear responsibility marks indicating that the beverage should only be consumed by those of legal drinking age will be printed on cans.
The Coca-Cola Company and Bacardi Limited’s responsible marketing guidelines will be followed by BACARDÍ Mixed with Coca-Cola RTD.
Although it varies per market, the global benchmark for alcohol beverage volume (ABV) is 5%.
