On December 29/22 FSSAI announced its new CEO, who will look at all the activities under this statutory body established under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

G Kamala Vardhana Rao (IAS) is the New Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), a statutory body established under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India on Thursday, December 29, 2022.
Before this, Rao served as the Managing Director of Indian Tourism Development Corporation Ltd (ITDC), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Tourism.

Rao is an IAS officer of the 1990 batch from the Kerala cadre.
He has earlier served as
1. Principal Secretary,
2. Public Works Department, and
3. As Principal Secretary, Finance and Expenditure, Government of Kerala.
4. He has also served as Secretary, of Kerala Tourism, and Director of Culture, at the Government of India.
Earlier Arun Singhal was the CEO of FSSAI after his appointment in June 2020. He is now the Secretary of the Department of Fertilisers, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilisers, Government of India.
