Paboco and Blue Ocean Closures unveils world’s first market ready paper bottle and cap.

The first market-ready paper bottle and fiber-based cap combination in the industry was developed by Paboco and Blue Ocean Closures.

It is already available and is anticipated to be marketed to customers in early 2025.

Building on years of expertise in the development and introduction of paper bottle packaging, Paboco is utilizing the knowledge gained to introduce a range of products, which includes the first-ever offering of paper bottles combined with fiber-based caps.

In collaboration with Blue Ocean Closures, who have published a standard closure for solids and pills that is reportedly ready for immediate market usage, Paboco has launched a product range that includes paper bottles and fiber-based caps.

Packaging Highlights

With an HDPE barrier weighing less than 2 grams, the entire package, including the cap, weighs less than 16 grams, staying true to Paboco’s emphasis on using the fewest possible materials during manufacturing.

Because of the thin barrier in the bottle, the combined package can be recycled like paper packaging. a significant advancement for the business and consumer brands.

Availability

According to Paboco, this invention is a component of their plan to create future bio-based solutions and roll out paper bottles on a large scale by the end of 2025.

Selected partners can place an order for the paper bottle and cap, which will be on display at this year’s CPHI in Milan, Italy on October 8 and Scanpack in Gothenburg, Sweden from October 22–25.

At its manufacturing facility in Denmark, Paboco started producing its fiber-based bottles on a large scale in February with the goal of producing more than 20 million bottles by the end of 2025.

The precise ratios vary based on the bottle form and intended application, but the business claims that the solution is 85% paper and 15% HDPE barrier.
