According to authorities, a fire caused an explosion in a food processing facility in the Narela Industrial Area.
Tragically, three workers lost their lives in the incident, while six others sustained injuries. The incident occurred during the night between Friday and Saturday.
At 3:38 am, the Delhi Fire Services received a call about a fire at a food processing unit in the Narela Industrial area. Teams were immediately dispatched to the location to drown the fire.
According to the police, a group of nine victims were saved from the location and quickly taken to Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra Hospital (SRHC). Three of them were pronounced dead upon arrival.
An official stated that the fire occurred at Dal Mill, where pulses were processed. The individuals who died in the Fire at a Factory in Narela were named Shyam, Ram Singh, and Beerpal.
According to the police, a preliminary investigation showed that raw moong was being roasted on gas burners when a suspected gas leak from one of the pipes ignited a fire. This fire caused the compressor to overheat, resulting in an explosion.
A case has been filed under the relevant sections and an investigation has been initiated. The fire damaged the entire building, including the basement, ground floor, first, second, and third floors, as well as the temporary roof structure.
According to the police, the six individuals who were injured have been named as Pushpender, Akash, Mohit, Ravi, Lalu, and Monu. Out of these six, five suffered burn injuries and were subsequently transferred to Safdarjung Hospital. The remaining person sustained a minor injury, as reported by the police.
Ankit Gupta and Vinay Gupta, residents of Rohini, have been identified as the owners of the food factory, according to the police. The duo is now facing a case under relevant sections, and an investigation is underway.
