Before the celebrations, the local government introduced a special helpline for assisting citizens in reporting concerns regarding the possible adulteration in food products such as paneer, milk, khoya, and more.
With the upcoming festivals like Holi, Navratri, and Eid-Ul-Fitr, the culinary scene in the city is hectic. Due to increased demand, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) Department is concerned about potential adulteration and the spread of fake food products in the market.
To address this problem that presents possible health risks, the authorities have highlighted the importance of maintaining strict surveillance and enforcement measures.
It has been observed that even though the FSDA plans to increase regular inspections throughout the city, the assistance of residents will be critical in identifying and eliminating dangerous imitation and contaminated food and essential ingredients.
District magistrate Surya Pal Gangwar highlights the importance of active participation from the local community in identifying and reporting hazardous imitations and adulterated food and staple ingredients, while also mentioning that FSDA will increase its routine inspections throughout the city.
A helpline number, 0522-3514492, is now available for residents to report any suspected cases of food adulteration in their area. The identity of the complaint will remain confidential, and quick action will be taken to address the issue, he said.
