Mount Everest Breweries Buys Cheers Breweries in ₹300 Crore Deal

Mount Everest Breweries Limited (MEBL) has bought Karnataka’s Cheers Breweries for ₹300 crore. With this move, the company is entering the southern beer market and aims to expand its reach to 20 states by FY26. MEBL is targeting around 8% of India’s beer market by 2030.

Expansion in Mysuru

The deal includes Cheers Breweries’ Mysuru facility, which can produce 1.5 million hectolitres annually. This acquisition is expected to bring in ₹350–400 crore additional revenue by FY28. The company expects its overall sales to grow by 15–18% over the next three to four years. With this purchase, MEBL’s total brewing capacity will increase from 2.0 million hectolitres to 3.5 million hectolitres a 75% jump. Production at the Mysuru facility started in early September.

The acquisition is being financed through a mix of the company’s own funds and structured debt, which will also cover new equipment and working capital needs.

Vedant Kedia, Whole-time Director at MEBL, said that Karnataka is the “future of India’s beer culture.” He added that Bengaluru, with its young and experimental crowd, offers a strong opportunity. Retailers have already shown interest in joining hands with MEBL.

Looking Ahead

After shaping beer culture in Central India for over 20 years, MEBL now wants to bring its expertise and innovation to South India. The company believes this acquisition will be a turning point in strengthening its presence across the country.
