Walmart Recalls 850,000 Water Bottles After Injuries

Walmart has recalled about 850,000 Ozark Trail 64 oz water bottles after some people were hurt while using them. In three cases, the bottle lid popped off with force and hit people in the face. Sadly, two people lost their vision permanently.

The bottles can become dangerous if used to store carbonated or fermented drinks or food like kombucha, kimchi, wine, or sourdough starter. These items release gas and build pressure inside the bottle. When someone opens it, the lid can fly off and cause cuts or other injuries.

What Should You Do If You Have One?

Walmart is asking people to stop using the bottle right away. Even though the model number 83-662 is not written on the bottle, you can check if it’s one of the recalled ones by looking for the Ozark Trail logo on it. If you have the bottle, you can return it to any Walmart store for a full refund.

Walmart stated that the health and safety of its customers is always a top priority. The company is working closely with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the manufacturer to remove all hazardous bottles from its stores and inform customers about the recall.

Be Careful With Fermented and Fizzy Items

This is a reminder to be careful when storing fizzy or fermented items in sealed bottles. These items can cause pressure to build up, which may lead to sudden explosions when opened. This can be dangerous to your body and health.
