Unilever Hiring Product Development Specialist Core Tea

Unilever has opened applications for the position of Product Development Specialist Core Tea within its Research & Development function. This full time role will be based either at Unilever R&D Bangalore or the Tea Excellence Centre in Kolkata, supporting India’s Core Tea Portfolio.

Role Importance

The Product Development Specialist will contribute to developing blends that are high in quality, sustainable, and aligned with consumer needs. Role Responsibilities

The selected candidate will support Unilever’s Core Tea innovation pipeline, contributing to new product development, renovation projects, and value improvements. Responsibilities span laboratory experimentation to factory scale execution, combining scientific rigor with creativity.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and improving tea blends that offer superior quality and environmental benefits.
  • Planning and conducting scientific experiments, interpreting data, and forming technical conclusions.
  • Translating consumer insights into testable product ideas and validating them through experiments.
  • Leading technical benchmarking and stability studies for product excellence.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams across R&D, Supply Chain, Brand, and Quality Assurance.
  • Supporting factory scale up with accurate documentation and training materials.
  • Driving cost effective and sustainable improvements across tea products.

Candidate Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field with 1–2 years of R&D experience,
    OR
  • Graduate degree with 2–3 years of experience, preferably in the tea industry.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong understanding of product development principles and R&D processes.
  • Familiarity with ingredient systems, formulations, and flavour development.
  • Experience with digital or data management tools.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • A curious mindset paired with a passion for continuous learning.
