On Monday, Food Safety and Drug Administration Department (FDA) officials collect samples from a McDonald’s branch in Noida Sector 18 and Theobroma bakery in Sector 104.
This action was taken in response to a complaint made by a consumer who claimed to have fallen ill after consuming food from these establishments.
Officials stated that the complaints were filed through the Food Safety Connect portal of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
Officials have reported that a consumer complained to the McDonald’s branch in Noida Sector 18, claiming they fell ill after consuming a burger and french fries from the establishment.
After receiving the complaint, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) team in Gautam Buddh Nagar quickly visited McDonald’s in Noida Sector 18 to collect samples.
Archana Dheeran, Assistant Commissioner (Food) FDA, Gautam Buddh Nagar, stated that a complaint was received on the portal regarding McDonald’s. The customer reported feeling unwell after consuming aloo tikki and french fries. In response, samples of palm oil, cheese, and mayonnaise have been taken for further investigation.
According to ANI, there was a second complaint regarding Theobroma bakery in Noida Sector 104. A woman became sick after consuming a stale cake from the bakery.
Theobroma bakery is now under investigation as a sample of the pineapple cake has been sent to the laboratory. If the lab report confirms the product’s failure, legal action will be taken. The specific complaint mentioned that the cream of the stale cake had a sour taste.
Previously, a serious food safety concern gained attention when a 10-year-old girl in Punjab passed away from suspected food poisoning after consuming a cake purchased online. A sample of the cake was sent for examination, revealing a significant presence of a sweet-tasting artificial compound.
