Job Role Overview
The New Product Development & Packaging Manager will oversee the complete journey of new product creation from concept and formulation to packaging design and market launch. This role demands strong coordination across R&D, production, marketing, and vendor teams, along with an eye for detail, creativity, and a deep understanding of packaging compliance and consumer trends.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the development and trials of new food products from concept to commercialization.
- Coordinating with R&D, production, and marketing teams to align product and packaging requirements.
- Evaluating packaging materials for safety, durability, and regulatory compliance.
- Conducting shelf-life and performance tests under varied conditions.
- Ensuring packaging designs meet branding, labelling, and statutory norms including FSSAI and barcode requirements.
- Managing vendor relationships for design development, sampling, and cost optimization.
- Maintaining documentation for packaging specifications, product trials, and regulatory submissions.
- Monitoring market and competitor trends to identify packaging innovations and sustainability opportunities.
- Supporting quality and compliance teams during audits and inspections.
Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum 3 years of experience in product development or packaging within the FMCG or food manufacturing industry.
- Sound understanding of food safety standards, packaging materials, and regulatory norms.
- Proficiency in MS Office and documentation practices; familiarity with packaging design software will be an added advantage.
- Strong coordination, multitasking, and project management abilities.
- A creative and consumer focused mindset, with attention to detail.
- Professional integrity and the ability to meet timelines in a fast-paced environment.
