Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Consumer Products (RCPL) has entered the healthy functional drink market. The company has acquired a majority stake in Naturedge Beverages, a Bengalurumbased firm known for its herbal drink brand Shunya.
Shunya: A Modern Ayurveda Drink
Shunya is Naturedge’s main product. It is a zero sugar, zero calorie drink made with Ayurvedic herbs like ashwagandha, brahmi, kokum, khus, and green tea. These herbs are known to reduce stress, increase stamina, and improve focus, making the drink popular among health conscious people.
Reliance Expands Beverage Portfolio
With this deal, Reliance plans to grow as a total beverage company by adding more health-focused drinks to its lineup. RCPL has already revived the Campa brand, launched Campa Energy, and introduced the fruit based drink Raskik. Now, with Shunya, the company aims to expand into energy drinks, herb infused water, and energy shots.
Company Leaders on the Partnership
Ketan Mody, Executive Director of RCPL, said that the partnership would add health-focused functional drinks to the company’s portfolio. He noted that Shunya has quickly gained popularity among consumers who are looking for herbal benefits in modern formats.
Siddhesh Sharma, Director of Naturedge Beverages, stated that the partnership reflects the growing acceptance of Shunya. He added that, together with Reliance, the company aims to make Shunya a pan-India brand.
The functional beverage market in India is growing fast as people prefer natural, healthy alternatives to sugary soft drinks. By combining Ayurveda with modern tastes, Reliance and Naturedge are aiming to capture this rising demand.
