PepsiCo is recruiting a Quality Control (QC) Associate to oversee product quality, process checks and packaging inspection as per Frito Lay India (FLI) standards. The role ensures that every batch meets safety, hygiene and performance requirements while reducing wastage and customer complaints.

Role Overview
The QC Associate is responsible for strict on-line quality checks during production and final product inspection. The job includes troubleshooting during processing, maintaining quality standards across machines and equipment, and ensuring compliance with GMP, GHK, GLP and audit requirements such as HACCP, AIB, hygiene and process audits. The role also involves identifying causes of quality defects and applying corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
In the Process Area:
- Carrying out regular quality checks to ensure all Frito-Lay standards are followed.
- Monitoring key machine parameters for peelers, fryers, slicers, chip conveyors and seasoning tumblers.
- Ensuring potatoes in the trim and pare area are properly peeled every hour.
- Checking slice thickness and surface moisture every 4 hours.
- Deciding if anti-foaming agents are required.
- Recording fryer dwell time from operator logs every 4 hours.
- Verifying seasoning levels applied to the product.
Analytical Testing & Inspection:
- Using Hunter Color Test to decide if blanching is required.
- Ensuring proper utilization of fryer oil.
- Testing oil every 4 hours for FFA, OV, PV, taste, odor, foreign matter and specific gravity.
- Comparing oil results with standard charts and deciding oil mix (fresh vs blended).
- Inspecting chips hourly for TPD parameters such as oil percentage, PA, soft centers, blisters, flakes and clusters.
- Measuring non-potato product parameters like moisture, bulk density, seasoning and dimensions.
Problem Solving & Coordination:
- Taking immediate corrective actions based on test results.
- Guiding operators to fix small issues.
- Informing shift in-charge about picker requirements based on inspection results.
- Coordinating with the agro team to change defective potato lots when necessary.
- Reporting major issues to the Quality Manager for trials and decisions.
Packaging Area Responsibilities
- Ensuring online checks and inspections for finished products meet Frito-Lay quality norms.
- Supervising half-hourly air leakage checks and hourly checks for weight, batch print and air fill.
- Conducting Nitrogen Flushing tests every 4 hours to check oxygen levels in bags.
- Performing random film quality checks when complaints arise from production.
- Communicating corrective actions to operators, shift in-charge and production managers.
- Coordinating with the Quality Manager in case of critical issues and ensuring corrective steps are implemented.
