Over 200 residents fall sick at Noida Society after drinking contaminated water.

On Monday, more than 200 people in a Noida society became ill after they allegedly drunk contaminated water.

The majority of those affected were children living in Supertech Eco Village 2, and they showed symptoms including diarrhea and vomiting.

Residents blame the outbreak on poorly maintained water tanks in the complex.

“My son came from a coaching institute and complained of ill health. He vomited twice in the institute. After a while, my younger son, who is aged 8, started complaining of ill health,” a resident of the society said.

A resident stated that their child experienced symptoms, such as vomiting, after coming home after a coaching class.

Not long after, the 8-year-old youngster in the family also started showing symptoms of sickness.

The resident noted feeling nauseous after coming home from work, attributing the issue to the contaminated water.

Another resident, Abhishek Singh said that his son’s condition worsened after consuming the contaminated water, to the point where his son required emergency care in the hospital’s intensive care unit due to convulsions.

The society’s maintenance staff investigated and took water samples for analysis in response to the protest.

They have pledged to fix any issues found and take action against those responsible for the negligence.

A resident said the complaints started after a society water tank was cleaned two days ago.

Later, a senior police station officer from Bisrakh revealed that the cleaning materials used in the process had unintentionally contaminated the water, which was what led to the sickness outbreak.

The Greater Noida authority is currently involved in managing the situation and ensuring the safety of the residents.
