The National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, Kundli (NIFTEM-K), has partnered with Thermo Fisher Scientific a global leader in scientific technology to improve food safety in India. The two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together on several projects aimed at strengthening the country’s food safety and authenticity systems.
Advanced Equipment Donated for Research and Training
As part of this partnership, Thermo Fisher Scientific has gifted an advanced Gas Chromatograph system to NIFTEM-K, free of cost. This equipment will help students and researchers learn new testing methods and support training and demonstration activities to ensure food products in India are safe and authentic.
One of the main highlights of the collaboration is the creation of a Centre of Excellence for Food Safety and Authenticity at NIFTEM-K. This centre will focus on new research, developing faster testing kits, and sharing knowledge about food safety technologies.
Training and Career Opportunities for Students
The partnership also includes hands-on training programs for students and researchers on advanced testing methods. These programs will take place at both NIFTEM-K and Thermo Fisher Scientific facilities. Additionally, students from NIFTEM-K will get internship and placement opportunities with Thermo Fisher Scientific, helping them gain practical experience and better job prospects.
Working Together to Meet Global Standards
Officials from both organizations said this partnership will bring innovation to the food safety sector, help develop skilled professionals, and support India’s efforts to meet global food safety standards. Overall, this collaboration shows a shared commitment to use modern technology and research to make the food people eat in India safer and more reliable.
