New 28th Edition Codex Alimentarius Procedural Manual Released

The Codex Alimentarius Commission, in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), has released the 28th edition of the Codex Alimentarius Procedural Manual. The new version features technical updates that the Commission recently agreed upon and presents the content in a new format and design that aligns with current publication standards.

The latest edition of the manual boasts a colorful layout and improved clarity, making it easier to read and comprehend. The changes are meant to facilitate future updates, ensure consistency, and enable compatibility with modern reference management tools.

The new manual includes amendments to the section on commodity standards that deal with non-retail containers and committees working by correspondence. It also features a new annex that discusses the extrapolation of maximum residue limits of veterinary drugs. A new foreword highlights the latest additions, making it easier for users to navigate the manual.

CODEX in partnership with the FAO has released the 28th edition of the Codex Alimentarius Procedural Manual.

Jean-Luc Angot, the Chairperson of the Codex Committee on General Principles (CCGP), praised the manual, calling it a “dazzling piece of work” and a significant milestone in its history. Steve Wearne, the Chairperson of the Codex Alimentarius Commission, expressed his excitement about the manual’s release, which is available for download and online use.

The Codex Alimentarius Procedural Manual is an essential resource for Codex Members, and changes and updates are made on a regular basis. The new edition is available for free download from the Codex website.
