Nestlé India Partners with Government to Boost Jobs and Food Manufacturing

Nestlé India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) to increase investments in India’s food manufacturing sector. The agreement was finalized during the World Food India Summit 2025 and is expected to speed up Nestlé’s upcoming factory projects across the country.

More Factories, More Jobs

With this partnership, Nestlé will expand both new (greenfield) and existing (brownfield) plants especially in Odisha and other key locations. The company had earlier announced an investment of ₹5,000 crore by 2025, and this deal will help them move faster. These expansions are expected to create thousands of jobs in areas like production, logistics, quality testing, and support services. It will also benefit rural areas by improving sourcing from local farmers and suppliers.

Nestlé India’s Chairman and Managing Director, Manish Tiwary, said that the agreement is not just about setting up factories it’s also about developing people. He highlighted that the company aims to improve skill training and help build a stronger and more inclusive food supply network in India.

A Growing Wave of Investments in Food Processing

Experts say that the food processing sector is getting a lot of attention. At the same summit, MoUs worth over ₹1.02 lakh crore were signed. These deals are expected to create more than 64,000 direct jobs and indirectly benefit over 10 lakh people.
