The Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Kharagpur is inviting applications for a temporary research position in the Department of Agricultural and Food Engineering. The project will run for one year from the date of joining and may be extended up to four years depending on performance and project requirements.
Position Available
- Post: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) – 1 position
- Project Title: Development of Millet-based Beer and Whisky (Project Code: R/DBW)
- Sponsoring Agency: SJNKO Organics LLP
- Compensation: ₹37,000 per month (based on qualification and experience)
This is an industry sponsored, target-based research assignment. The selected candidate is expected to show strong research aptitude and dedication to complete the project within the given time.
Required Qualifications
Educational Background:
- M.Tech in Food Process Engineering / Food Science and Technology / Biotechnology / related fields
OR - M.Sc in Food Microbiology / Microbiology / related fields with a valid NET/GATE score
Eligibility:
Applicants must qualify through any one of the following:
- National Eligibility Tests (e.g., CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship, GATE)
- National-level exams conducted by central government departments/agencies such as DST, DBT, DRDO, ICAR, ICMR, IITs, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.
Experience Needed:
- Practical knowledge of fermentation technology for food and beverages
- Hands-on skills in microbiological and food related chemical analysis
Important Notes
- A small age relaxation may be granted to well qualified and experienced applicants, if recommended by the Selection Committee.
- Fulfilling the minimum requirements does not guarantee selection. Shortlisting will be based on suitability for the project.
