Godrej Agrovet Limited has entered into a non binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI). Through this agreement, the company plans to invest ₹960 crore to expand its food processing capabilities and set up a modern Research & Development (R&D) centre.
Focus on Oil Palm and Pet Food Businesses
The upcoming facilities will support Godrej Agrovet’s Oil Palm and Pet Food divisions. These units will be established across multiple states, including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Tripura, Telangana, and Maharashtra.
Sunil Kataria, CEO & Managing Director of Godrej Agrovet, said that the investment aligns with the company’s long term vision. By developing advanced manufacturing infrastructure and strengthening research efforts, the company hopes to improve its supply chain, support farmers, and promote sustainability.
Government Welcomes the Initiative
Shri Avinash Joshi, Secretary of MoFPI, appreciated the partnership and said it will help strengthen India’s agricultural and food processing ecosystem. He also acknowledged Godrej Agrovet’s important role in supporting the National Mission on Edible Oils Oil Palm.
Rakesh Swami, Group President Corporate Affairs at Godrej Industries Group, highlighted that government friendly policies have encouraged major investments in the food processing sector. He added that MoFPI is helping change public perceptions about packaged foods while supporting innovation.
Expected Benefits by FY 2026-27
The project is targeted for completion by the financial year 2026-27. It is expected to generate employment opportunities and support regional development through large scale infrastructure and technology driven growth.
