The India Organic and Jaivik Bharat logos have been replaced by the ‘Unified India Organic’ logo, developed collaboratively by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).
The National Programme for Organic Products (NPOP) and FSSAI have collaborated to create a new logo that aims to establish consistency and integrity in implementing Indian regulations.
The India Organic logo was utilized for organic products that met the NPOP standards, whereas Jaivik Bharat was used for organic products that were certified by FSSAI.
The certification bodies will be granted a three-month transition period for implementation, starting from the date the logo is officially notified.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is an independent regulatory body created under the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006.
It is tasked with safeguarding and enhancing public health through the oversight of food safety and quality standards in India, functioning under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
APEDA operates under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and is tasked with promoting and developing the export of scheduled products such as fruits, vegetables, and their derivatives.
