During a recent inspection at Patradevi, Pernem, FDA officials visited 18 food outlets. Two businesses a restaurant and a cashew shop were ordered to suspend operations immediately due to poor hygienic conditions. The inspection led to the issuance of improvement notices to all 18 outlets, with a 14-day deadline to comply with food safety standards.
Additionally, the FDA seized food items worth approximately ₹50,000, including chips, chocolates, and artificially coloured dry fruits. Samples of sweets were also collected for laboratory testing to assess compliance with food safety norms.
