Food Recalls by US FDA – Everest Spices & Maggi Magic Masala

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a public health alert for Food Recalls on June 30, 2023 for three brands of spices: Everest Garam Masala, Everest Sambhar Masala, and Maggi Masala ae Magic. These spices have been recalled due to the potential presence of Salmonella. Everest is 52 year old spices manufacturing company in India owned by Everest Food Products Pvt Ltd. While Maggi Masala is manufactured by Nestlé India.

Food Recalls Why?

Salmonella is a bacterium that can cause food poisoning. Symptoms of food poisoning caused by Salmonella can include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. In some cases, Salmonella can lead to more serious complications, such as sepsis or meningitis.

The recalled spices were manufactured in India and distributed to retail stores in Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, Maryland, Tennessee, Texas, Mississippi, Florida, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.

  • Maggi Masala ae Magic, 6 grams, lot number 20640 455AA

If you have any of the recalled spices in your home, you should not eat them. You should throw them away in a sealed container in the trash. You should also wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling the recalled spices.
