Andhra Pradesh Sets Rs. 30,000 Crore Target to Boost Food Processing and Jobs

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced a new plan to make the state a world leader in food processing. Under the AP Food Processing Policy 4.0, the government aims to bring in ₹30,000 crore investment and create 3 lakh new jobs.

Speaking at the India Food Manufacturing Summit in Visakhapatnam, Naidu said the state’s strengths in farming and fishing give it a natural advantage. Andhra Pradesh produces 15.6% of India’s fruits and exports 32% of India’s seafood. With different climate zones and a wide variety of crops, the state can become a top food exporter.

Existing Infrastructure Backbone

Currently, Andhra Pradesh houses 6,000 registered food processing units, nine integrated food parks, 17 lakh MT of cold storage capacity, and 33 lakh tonnes of warehousing facilities. To accelerate investment, the government has assured a single-window clearance system along with special incentives for projects above ₹200 crore.

Industry Response and MSME Focus

Industry leaders have welcomed the plan. Nilesh Lele, chairman of CASMB, said Andhra Pradesh has everything needed for success – strong farming, good infrastructure, and a supportive policy. He added that quick action and support for small businesses (MSMEs) will be important so that farmers and small processors also gain benefits.

Naidu said this food processing push is part of the Swarna Andhra Vision 2047, where the state aims to become a $2.4 trillion economy. He explained that food processing will play a big role in reaching that goal.
