A P Das Joshi Appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries

Senior bureaucrat A P Das Joshi has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. This appointment comes following the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, according to an official order issued by the Personnel Ministry on July 2.

Joshi, a 1994 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, is currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). He will take over the position from Sanjeev Chopra, Secretary of Food and Public Distribution, who has been holding the additional charge of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries since May 31. The charge became vacant after the superannuation of Subrata Gupta.

With extensive experience in administrative roles, Joshi’s appointment is expected to strengthen the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to boost India’s food processing sector, enhance value addition, and reduce post-harvest losses.
