The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has announced a partnership with Swiggy, a leading food delivery platform, to offer pre-ordered meals directly to passengers onboard trains. This initiative aims to significantly enhance the travel experience by providing a wider variety of delicious and convenient dining options.
Passengers can pre-order meals through IRCTC’s e-catering portal using their PNR number, browse menus from various restaurants available along their route, and place orders seamlessly.
his collaboration broadens the existing food options available on the platform, catering to diverse palates and dietary preferences. Whether you crave regional specialties, familiar comfort food, or healthy options, you’re more likely to find something to satisfy your taste buds.
The user-friendly portal allows passengers to browse menus, place orders, and choose their preferred payment method (online or cash on delivery) within a single platform. This eliminates the hassle of searching for catering options or relying solely on pre-packaged meals.
The service will be initially available as a pilot program at four major stations – Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam. Based on its success, IRCTC plans to expand the program to encompass more stations across the vast Indian railway network, making it accessible to a wider range of travelers.
This partnership builds upon IRCTC’s previous collaboration with Zomato, which offers similar pre-ordered food delivery services at select stations. By leveraging Swiggy’s extensive network and diverse restaurant partnerships, IRCTC aims to cater to a broader audience and provide a more enjoyable and convenient travel experience for train passengers across India.
