The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) recently announced a significant update concerning the food analyst report format. In a recent directive, the FSSAI clarified that all FSSAI-notified food testing laboratories and stakeholders must comply with the revised test report formats introduced in the Food Safety and Standards (First Amendment) Rules, 2022. This update applies to both primary and appeal samples.
The FSSAI emphasized that the new test report formats, namely Form VII A ‘Report of the Food Analyst’ for primary notified laboratories and Form XI ‘Certificate of Analysis by the Referral Food Laboratory’ for appeal samples, must be followed henceforth. These formats were officially published in January 2023 as part of the Food Safety and Standards (First Amendment) Rules, 2022.
The FSSAI further stated that the Food Safety and Standards (Laboratory and Sampling Analysis) Regulations, 2011 are being revised to remove the existing formats of test reports, namely Form A ‘Certificate of Analysis by the Referral Food Laboratory’ and Form B ‘Report of the Food Analyst.’ This revision aligns with the introduction of the new test report formats specified in the aforementioned amendment.00
By implementing these changes, the FSSAI aims to standardize and streamline the reporting process for food analysis. The revised test report formats will provide clarity and consistency in reporting results, enhancing transparency and facilitating better communication among stakeholders.
The FSSAI’s directive regarding the adoption of the new test report formats reflects its commitment to ensuring the safety and quality of food products in India. By adhering to these standardized formats, stakeholders can contribute to a robust and reliable food testing system, ultimately safeguarding public health.
In conclusion, the FSSAI’s recent clarification on the format of test reports for food analysis highlights the adoption of revised test report formats outlined in the Food Safety and Standards (First Amendment) Rules, 2022. This directive mandates FSSAI to notify food testing laboratories and stakeholders to adhere to the new formats, promoting consistency and transparency in reporting food analysis results.
