ITC’s Fabelle Launches Kunafa Chocolate Collection in India

ITC Limited’s premium chocolate brand, Fabelle Exquisite Chocolates, has launched a brand-new Kunafa Chocolate Collection in India. This collection brings together the flavours of the Middle Eastern dessert kunafa and India’s growing craftsmanship in gourmet chocolate. After months of studying authentic kunafa in Dubai, Fabelle has created three rich chocolate variants that promise a layered, nutty, and indulgent experience.

Fusion of Middle Eastern Tradition and Indian Craftsmanship

Fabelle’s new Kunafa Collection blends the classic Middle Eastern dessert known for its crunchy kataifi strands and creamy fillings with Indian chocolate artistry. The goal was to offer Indian consumers a dessert that feels global yet familiar. The three variants include:

  • Milk Pistachio Kunafa Chocolate : Smooth pistachio cream paired with crispy kunafa strands and lightly roasted pistachios.
  • Pistachio Dark Kunafa Chocolate (64% cocoa) : A richer, darker version of the pistachio kunafa combination.
  • Pecan Dark Kunafa Chocolate (64% cocoa) : A luxurious mix of dark chocolate, roasted pecans, and delicate kunafa strands introducing pecans to the trend for the first time in India.

Why Fusion Desserts Are Rising in India

1. Global Tastes, Local Comfort

Indian consumers, especially younger audiences, increasingly enjoy global flavours but still want a sense of familiarity. Fusion desserts like this combine international inspiration with local taste preferences.

2. Snacking Is Now About Experiences

People no longer seek just “sweet treats” they want textures, layers, stories, and craftsmanship. Fabelle’s chocolates offer:

  • Multi-layered bites
  • Premium ingredients
  • A story of global culinary research

3. Innovation Through Research

Fabelle’s team spent months in Dubai’s patisseries learning the art of kunafa. This research-driven approach shows how Indian brands are now investing deeply in culinary science and global flavour study.

4. Luxury Through Cultural Collaboration

Modern luxury foods often mix ideas from different cultures. As India’s premium market grows, flavours like baklava, matcha, tiramisu, and now kunafa are becoming part of everyday indulgence.

5. Social Media Makes Fusion Trends Popular

Platforms like Instagram and Threads reward novelty. Unique treats—such as kunafa inside chocolate—quickly go viral and create higher demand.

Expert Statement From ITC

Mr. Anuj Bansal, Vice President and Head of Marketing (Chocolates, Coffee & Confectionary), said that Fabelle did not want to simply follow the global kunafa trend but elevate it with research and flavour science. Their team explored how nut and chocolate combinations influence taste and texture, resulting in three thoughtfully crafted variants. He added that the inclusion of pecans brings a new level of richness and indulgence to Indian chocolate trends.

Driving the Future of India’s Premium Snacking

The Kunafa Chocolate Collection marks a new direction for India’s high-end desserts. Such products are expected to:

  • Encourage brands to create innovative, fusion-based sweets
  • Increase demand for premium gifting options
  • Boost global collaborations in Indian confectionery
  • Shape the identity of luxury snacking in India

As Indian consumers seek bolder flavours and premium experiences, fusion desserts like these are likely to become strong drivers of the next wave of gourmet snacking.
