India’s food industry is set for a major boost after the government signed investment agreements worth ₹1.02 lakh crore with 26 big national and international companies during the World Food India 2025 summit held in New Delhi. The event took place at Bharat Mandapam and ended on 28 September 2025, marking one of the biggest ever investment announcements in India’s food processing sector.
Big Companies Lining Up to Invest
Several top companies have committed large amounts of money:
- Reliance Consumer Products Ltd: ₹40,000 crore to build large-scale food manufacturing facilities across India.
- Coca-Cola India bottlers: ₹25,760 crore for new and upgraded plants.

What Areas Will Benefit?
The investments will cover almost every part of the food supply chain, such as dairy, poultry, meat, ready to eat foods, beverages, spices, snacks, confectionery, fruits, vegetables, and edible oils. According to the ministry, this balanced spread will boost both traditional farm based industries and modern packaged food businesses.
More Jobs Across Many States
These investments are projected to create more than 64,000 direct jobs and over 10 lakh indirect employment opportunities in areas like farming, logistics, packaging, warehousing, and retail.
The upcoming facilities and supply chains will be spread across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Assam, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, and the North-East, ensuring that growth is evenly distributed across the country.
Government Promises Fast Implementation
The Ministry of Food Processing Industries, with support from Invest India, has promised to ensure that these MoUs turn into real factories, supply chains, and farmer partnerships. The ministry called the event a milestone for India’s food ecosystem, saying it will drive sustainable growth, innovation, and international collaboration.
