Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL) is the FMCG arm of Reliance Industries, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government to invest ₹1,513 crore. The new plant will come up in Katol, Nagpur, and will focus on making food and beverage products.
New Jobs and Industry Growth
The project will create about 500 jobs and give a big push to Maharashtra’s food processing and consumer goods sector. The announcement was shared by the Chief Minister’s Office on the social media platform.
Along with RCPL’s project, the Maharashtra government signed other MoUs worth ₹1.08 trillion in areas like real estate, technology, data centres, and packaged goods. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was present at the signing ceremony, which was also attended by RCPL delegates.
Reliance’s Expansion in Packaged Goods
RCPL is focusing on growing its packaged consumer goods business in India. The company already sells snacks, beverages, and cleaning products. Its parent company, Reliance Industries, has announced plans to invest ₹40,000 crore over the next three years to set up modern food parks with automation, robotics, and sustainable technology.
Ambition to Lead FMCG Sector
RCPL has set a target to achieve ₹1 trillion (₹1 lakh crore) revenue in the next five years. Speaking at Reliance’s annual general meeting, Isha Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Retail, said the goal is to make RCPL India’s largest FMCG company with global reach, comparable to Reliance’s retail business in scale and profitability.
