Bollywood star Ranveer Singh is stepping out of the movies and into your kitchen shaker bottle. The 40 year old actor has launched SuperYou Pro, a vegan protein powder made from fermented yeast, priced at around Rs. 3,000 per kg. He calls it the future of protein”.

What the Brand Says

SuperYou Pro is not made from whey or regular plant sources. Instead, it uses bio fermentation technology to make protein from yeast. Ranveer Singh says it performs like whey protein but is easier on digestion. The brand claims each scoop gives you:

  • 24g of clean, vegan protein

  • All 9 essential amino acids + BCAAs

  • Highest quality score (PDCAAS 1.0)

  • Smooth texture without chalkiness

  • No dairy, soy, or gluten

  • Sweetened naturally with monk fruit

  • Added probiotics and digestive enzymes

What Is Fermented Yeast Protein?

Dietician Dr Archana Batra explains it starts with Saccharomyces cerevisiae, the same yeast used in bread and beer. Instead of baking, it’s grown in steel tanks, then processed into protein powder. This is not live yeast it’s purified protein with a quality score similar to whey, but completely vegan and allergen friendly.

Anshul Singh explains that fermented yeast protein has all the amino acids your body needs, making it a complete protein. It helps muscles grow, repair, and stay healthy. Fermentation also improves nutrient absorption and adds beta glucans, which support the immune system. Since it contains no soy or dairy, it is safe for people with allergies to those foods. It’s also eco friendly, lasts longer, and has a smaller carbon footprint than animal based proteins like meat or whey.

How It Compares to Whey Protein

Dr Simrat Kathuria says fermented protein may work as well as whey for most people, especially those with digestion problems or dairy allergies. However, whey still has slightly more leucine, an amino acid important for muscle growth in professional athletes.
For everyday fitness and health, fermented protein can be a good choice.

Komal Malik, head dietician at Asian Hospital, says this is one of the most advanced protein technologies available. It has the same net protein utilisation as whey and is certified by credible labs, including NABL and SGS.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • 100% vegan and allergen-friendly

  • Environmentally more sustainable
  • Quality matches whey for most people

Fermented yeast protein is a promising option for those seeking a clean, gut friendly, and sustainable protein source.
