Fake Bisleri Water Scam Busted in Delhi: Two Arrested

Police in Delhi have arrested two men for running a fake bottled water unit that used the name of the popular brand, Bisleri. The factory was located in the Shakurpur area of northwest Delhi. The accused, Sikander Lal (30) and Ashish Ram (19), were filling bottles with tap and borewell water and selling them using fake Bisleri labels and packaging.

Thousands of Fake Bisleri Bottles Already Sold

According to police, the fake bottles had already been sold in large numbers at bus stands, railway stations, and local markets in Delhi and nearby states. The operation had been running for about a year and fooled many unsuspecting buyers into thinking they were purchasing genuine Bisleri water. Inside the unit, police found sticker plates, barcode sheets, bottle caps, and machines used for printing and sealing. The accused used heater guns to paste fake labels and made the bottles look like real Bisleri products. Over 26 large 20-litre jars filled with water were also seized.

Health and Safety Concerns

The fake bottled water posed a serious health risk. It was made using untreated tap and borewell water, which may carry harmful bacteria or chemicals. Consuming such water can lead to serious illnesses, especially during the summer months.

The arrested men admitted they were working with another person, Vishal Gupta, who illegally supplied borewell water to the factory. Police have identified him and are taking legal action under the Environment Protection Act.

Stay Alert: Check Before You Buy

The case came to light after representatives from the Bisleri company filed a complaint. Following their report, police raided the factory and caught the culprits. This action has helped protect consumers and maintain trust in branded products.

This incident is a warning to consumers. Always check the seal, label, and packaging of bottled water before buying. If anything seems suspicious, report it to authorities to help stop such illegal practices.
